Black History Month Walking Tour

The City of London has Black history of African, Caribbean, and British origin built into its fabric and landscape.
A tour of London’s Black history is not only about enslavement and service but also empowerment and success. It’s a diverse history spanning centuries and it covers trade, culture, food, and war.
Join us from our starting point, The East India Arms within the EC BID area, to a finish with a flourish at the magnificent Guildhall, the seat of City power
About the Guide:
Rebecca Couper is a qualified City of London Guide passionate about sharing the City’s hidden side with a broader audience. She is a former BBC producer, and uses her communication skills to good use to reveal a different view of a city that has a tapestry woven with threads both golden and dark.
She will tell tales of imperialism and injustice, with the shadowy vestiges of the slave trade. Whatever tale every cobblestone and spire has to tell in the hour available, will be told! This includes the triumphs, the tragedies, the glories and the shames. She looks forward to sharing secrets with those of an inquiring mind.
